Lesson 02 – One Minute Zulu
In lesson 2 of One Minute Zulu you will learn a few useful words including “yes”, “no” and “thank you”. You’ll also be introduced to the idea of click consonants, a distinctive aspect of Zulu and other related languages spoken in South Africa.

In lesson 1 of One Minute Zulu you will learn to say “hello” and “goodbye”. You’ll also learn a little about where Zulu is spoken.
Introducing One Minute Zulu
With the launch of the World Cup in South Africa, we’re delighted to announce a new addition to our One Minute Languages series. You can now learn the language of 10 million people living in South Africa and other surrounding countries. Zulu is also understood by over 50% of the population of South Africa, and is one of eleven official languages of the country. Zulu is a Bantu language, written using the Latin alphabet, and contains the famous click consonants c, q and x.
Like all our One Minute Languages courses, One Minute Zulu is made up of ten lessons, each lasting just a couple of minutes. If you follow all ten lessons you will be able to communicate with Zulu speakers. Topics covered include greetings, common words, introducing yourself, talking about learning Zulu and language difficulties, numbers, asking people how they are, and other useful phrases.
The course will be made available over the coming weeks, starting with lesson 1 today. All audio lessons are free. Coffee Break French is now available as a complete course of eighty lessons, introducing listeners to the French language from scratch, and building to an understanding of the language which will get you by in any situation and allow you to converse with native speakers on a range of subjects. We’ve arrived at the final episode in our series of Coffee Break French. As usual, we cover a range of topics and constructions in this conversation and everything is explained in the lesson. Please note that lesson 40 of Season 2 was originally known as lesson 80 of Coffee Break French.
